LOAD BANK COOLING MOTOR WILL NOT OPERATE

Symptoms

  • When the unit is turned on, the controls light-up but the fan does not operate.

  • When the unit is turned on, the controls indicate a fan cooling error.

  • The fan operates for a brief period and then shuts off.

Possible Solutions

For Technical Support on Our Load Banks Please Call 800-362-0317

Cause

Things to Try

Circuit breaker tripped (on some models) or fuse blown.

Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.

Fan/control power not available and/or incorrect.

Check that the power cord is plugged into a power source.

Check that the power source is correctly rated (i.e. 120v, 15A).

Airflow into or out of fan area is restricted.

Load banks can shut off because of "over temperature."  Remove any objects preventing airflow.  Ensure there is proper spacing in between load banks.  Reset circuit breaker or fuse (if blown) and restart the load bank.

LOAD BANK TEST METERS WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY

Symptoms

  • Test meters do not show the correct values.

  • Test meters are blank or do not turn on.

Possible Solutions

Things to Try

Cause

Meter voltage selector switch in the wrong position.

*not all load banks have a selector switch

Switch the selector to the correct position and re-check the meter values.

*not all load banks have a selector switch

Cables connected to the wrong phase.

Check that each phase cable is connected to the correct phase receptacle on the power source.  Correct as necessary and recheck the meter values.

LOAD STEPS CANNOT BE ENERGIZED

Symptoms

  • You are not able to attain the desired capacity for your test.

  • Load is not applied when one or more steps are engaged.

Possible Solutions

Cause

Things to Try

Load element burned out.

The load bank can no longer be used.  Contact CSG to replace the load bank.

Fuse for the affect load step(s) has blown.

Contact CSG to engage a technician to replace the fuse(s).

Restart the test and confirm proper operation of the affected step(s).

LOAD OVERVOLTAGE ERROR INDICATED ON CONTROLS

Symptoms

  • Load removed from test without operator involvement.

  • Load controls indicate an overvoltage error.

Possible Solutions

Cause

Things to Try

Incorrect voltage (load source) applied to the load bank.

Shutdown load bank and verify voltage of power source.

Correct as necessary and begin load testing again.

Load bank voltage selector set for the incorrect load source voltage.

Confirm the voltage from the load power source and switch the load bank voltage selector to the correct setting.
